I salute all of these men.
Absolutely NOT trained killers…these men were trained to fight for their country and defeat our enemies. God Bless the Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, Airmen and Coasties for their bravery! God Bless America!
Michael Caine, Christopher Lee, James Doohan, David Niven and a whole lot more.
These stars returned from war forever touched. They served their country as so many others did. They signed for the duration of the war! Not knowing how long the war (European and Pacific theaters) would last. They served as both of my parents did, do whatever you could to help our country prevail! Many returned vastly changed. Many pushed down those traumatic experiences for the rest of their lives. My father served in Marine aviation throughout the Pacific, island to island, after signing up after Pearl Harbor. He never spoke of the horrors of war! He embraced life here and now, not in the past. These stars are to be admired and respected. Most of them lived in the “here and now” of their time, not the past!
Why are you calling them trained killers....they were trained soldiers.
These men were not “trained killers.” They were trained soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who served their country honorably. Not “trained killers.”
Surprised you missed Christopher Lee ... "service in the Finnish Army and the Royal Air Force during World War II, rising to Flight Lieutenant and participating in intelligence work, including potential assignments with Special Operations Executive (SOE) and Special Air Service (SAS)."
Michael Caine had close combat with Chinese in the Korean war.
A director who had no military experience asked Audie Murphy to show his war face... When he did, they apologized and said "Please don't do that again. People would be shocked by it to an unacceptable point."
These are men we need today.
