I raised my kids in a two-bedroom starter home in the 80s that cost almost as much as some of these places today. Hard to believe $100K can still stretch this far.
Watching this reminded me of when my husband and I bought our first house in Cleveland. We paid it off before retirement, and seeing these prices makes me wonder if we should invest again.
My daughter and her family live in California, and she pays more in rent each year than some of these houses cost outright. It’s eye-opening.
I’m on a fixed income now, and the thought of being able to own a home with no mortgage for $100K really speaks to me. Security means more than luxury these days.
Detroit caught my attention. My father worked in the auto plants there in the 60s. Nice to see the city coming back and still offering affordable housing.
I’ve lived in the South for decades, and places like Birmingham and Memphis don’t surprise me. They’ve always had charm, but the affordability is what really makes them stand out now.
My son keeps telling me to think about investing in rental property. After watching this, I see why. You can actually buy two or three homes in some of these towns instead of one condo on the coast.
Buffalo surprised me. I grew up in upstate New York, and back then nobody thought of it as “affordable luxury.” Times really do change.
The video makes a great point about stability. At our age, having a yard for the grandkids and no huge mortgage feels like true wealth.
I never thought I’d say this, but Toledo looks better than Los Angeles in this comparison. Wide porches and a backyard beat traffic and sky-high prices any day.
