The only thing unexpected about Timothy Treadwell's demise is that it took so long. No one expected he'd live to see a second season.
Coyotes will stalk you if they feel they have the advantage. I was stalked on my farm twice by a pack of 4. The first time I was close enough to my cabin that I got home in time. The second (about a week later) they were stalking me on both sides of the road (in the brush), and I noticed a bigger one about ten yards behind me on the road. This time is was carrying my 12 gauge pump. I just stated letting loose shots all around me ( on 475 acres I'm far from the nearest house), and I heard a couple of yelps coming from either side of the road. Never had a problem again, but I always carried a gun after that.
A friend of mine who grew up in and spent much of his life in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and India told me that no matter how tame a wild animal may seem, even if it's grown up among humans, a wild animal will always be wild at heart and can turn on you at any moment.
I remember when Steve Irwin died. My Mom told me, and I replied, "So which croc got him ?" When she told me it was a stingray, I was shocked.
“Treadwell’s career can be described as unconventional and adventurous”. He forgot to add “stupid”!! IMO.
I just read a comment from a video where two men saved a yearling Elk from an iced over pond or lake. The comment read, "Nature is not so much cruel as it is unforgiving." When the olympics came to my state there was a great commercial I've never forgotten, it went something close to, "... when you get to the top of the mountain, don't think that you've conquered the mountain, just be glad the mountain let you live."
Treadwell had a screw loose.
Cases like Treadwell's anger me. They act as if wild animals can be their friends, get themselves killed, and then the poor animals, acting only by instinct, are then killed.
I cannot imagine the stupidity of some people…R.I.P.
