Honestly, OP’s wedding sounded peaceful for the first time ever. That says it all.
Wow… imagine telling your adopted sister she’s “not really your sister.” That’s ice cold.
Sorry but trauma doesn’t entitle someone to be the center of EVERY event.
If I read that letter from Emma, I’d be sobbing in the shower. OP is heartless.
OP finally had her own day. If Emma loved her, she’d have respected that.
“She’s not my sister” was the mask slipping. You never saw her as family. Admit it.
Emma was emotionally abusive. Whether intentional or not, she hijacked your life.
Or maybe she was just a broken kid who needed love and you couldn’t give it.
The family should’ve gotten Emma professional care sooner instead of dumping it on OP.
The family gave Emma a home, and OP threw her away when inconvenient. Yikes.
Standing ovation for OP walking away from generational guilt.
That letter? Manipulation 101. Don’t fall for it.
Or maybe that letter was Emma’s first honest cry for help, and OP shut the door.
David’s right: you can’t live your life as someone else’s emotional bodyguard.
Yeah but vows don’t erase the fact you basically disowned your sister on her worst night.
This whole family failed Emma. OP just happened to deliver the final blow.
“Was it worth it?” If you can breathe for the first time in years, then yes.
Or maybe you just traded peace for guilt you’ll carry forever. Congrats, I guess.
