James Stewart, Frank Sinatra, Yul Brynner, Sean Connory: absolutely and obviously, though Brynner (and Connory) did not mind being seen with thin or no hair. Tony Bennett, who is mentioned in the piece about Sinatra, wore a full wig until the day he died.
Basically you could have just listed all of the male actors who wore hair pieces then said they were not vain but considered the wig as part of their costume.
You’re absolutely wrong about Humphrey Bogart. There are plenty of home made movies of him without his hairpiece when he wasn’t making a movie. You can find one here on YouTube with him on his yacht smiling happily into the camera without his hairpiece.
